21st Annual APHMG Workshop and Special Interest Groups Meetings

The APHMG Annual Workshop provides a forum for informative and stimulating discussion and shared experiences where attendees will learn from each other in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time for networking and socializing.

The Council has organized a wonderful and stimulating agenda for the APHMG plenary sessions including:

- How to approach the problem/troubled student, trainee, faculty member
- Expanding role of clinical trials and therapeutics in clinical genetics and medical genetics training programs
- Economics of clinical and lab genetics services in the current health care climate
- Competencies: where did they come from and how to make them work for our students, residents and lab trainees

In addition each of the APHMG Special Interest Groups (Residency Program Directors, Medical School Course Directors, and Laboratory Training Program Directors) will have individual meetings designed for discussion, problem solving and the development and sharing of common resources.

Course Directors’ SIG Poster Session
The Association of Professors in Human and Medical Genetics (APHMG) is excited to invite submissions for poster and platform presentations at the Course Directors Special Interest Group (CD SIG) meeting to be held on Friday May 8, 2015, 11:45 am – 5:30pm. The full program is listed at We are especially interested in posters and presentations on the following topics:

- Integration into clinical years
- Incorporating genomics into the curriculum
- Active learning strategies
- Best practices for use of technology in teaching
- How to reduce amount of material presented to medical students but still cover critical information

To be considered, please submit your abstract, maximum 300 words via this link by March 1, 2015. The planning committee will let you know if you have been chosen to deliver a short talk or poster by March 15, 2015.
