The third Human Variome Project Biennial Meeting, focussing on Implementation and Integration commenced this morning at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. Delegates were fortunate to be addressed by Prof. Sir John Burn, who reminded delegates that "failure to apply genetic knowledge kills people."

Over the next four days, delegates at the meeting will hear and discuss a variety of presentations and plans for standards, systems and infrastucture for the collection and sharing of genetic information effecting human disease.
