HVP3: Implementation and Integration10-14 May 2010 Planning Meeting 2008A meeting was held in May 2008 as a satellite of the European Society of Human Genetics to coordinate the formulation and planning of the Human Variome Project. An archived version of the HVP2 Meeting Site is available. 2006 MeetingThis meeting was held to promote a focus for variomic activities, which arguably is the most important “omic” in relation to human health. Currently this is fragmented, and some portions do not relate well to others both in a practical and in an informatics sense. The field is diverse ranging from gene specific databases through to ethnic databases (e.g. Arabic), cancer databases and OMIM/HGMD to dbSNP and TSC databases. The SNP activity, whilst massive, is not coordinated except by NIH, databases and some companies. Consensus and unification will not be easy under these circumstances, but improvement in cross talk, collection, curation, the ability to search and completeness are crucial to all regardless of their mission and size. Economies and better information will be obtained with a joint world vision. For full meeting report, click here. |
