Mona El RubyProf. Mona El Ruby, is the Professor and Head of the Clinical Genetics Department, Human Genetics and Genome Research Division at the National Research Centre, Cairo, Egypt.

Prof. El Ruby holds a PhD in Human Genetics (1986) and has been working in the field of clinical and cytogenetics for 33 years. Prof. El Ruby has more than 47 publications in this field. Throughout
her career she has managed about 27000 cases with different genetic disorders. Her team is able to delineate new dysmorphic syndromes not reported before, and detect novel genetic mutations for some genetic disorders. She was the co-principal investigator of a national project entitled "Control and Prevention of Genetic Disorders in Egypt (2003-2007)" from which the most encountered genetic disorders in our society could be pin pointed. Prof. El Ruby presented this work at the second Pan Arab genetic conference held at Dubai in 2007. Prof. El Ruby is currently the Principal Investigator of a national Egyptian grant entitled "Detection of Gene Mutations in Congenital Heart Disease in Egyptian Children" and a co-principal investigator for a current national grant entitled "Establishment of Database for Genetic Disorders in Egypt and Gene Banking (2007-present)".
